Dr Ahmed Fathy is a highly qualified, professional and caring consultant General and Laparoscopic
Surgeon who has been practising as a consultant surgeon in the UK since 2001.
Dr Fathy started his career in Cairo after graduating from Ain-Shams University in 1989 and completed his basic surgical training in 1994 and obtained Master degree in Surgery. He then moved to the UK and done extensive specialist training in Surgery which he completed in 2001. During this period, he obtained Doctorate in Surgery, Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from Louis Pasteur University, France.
In December 2004 Dr Fathy invented a new operation for weight loss surgery and published the longer term results in the Obesity Surgery Journal in 2016.
Dr Fathy is a pioneer in Laparoscopic Surgery and has been receiving tertiary referrals for complex stomach and oesophageal disease from other surgeon in the country.
Dr Fathy has a real passion for patient safety and outcomes. He is an international lead in areas of enhanced recovery and has developed many protocols and inventions to enhance the outcomes after esophageal and stomach surgery.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and was invited to many international conferences to give lectures on his innovative techniques.
