Dr Nurain is a UK-trained Paediatric Consultant with a special interest in Paediatric and Neonatal Critical Care. She graduated from the Royal Free and University College Medical School, University of London and started training in the National Health Service (NHS) in London.
Before joining King’s Dubai, Dr Nurain underwent speciality training in Paediatrics in various tertiary Neonatal and Paediatric ICUs in the UK, including Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, University College London Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. She also spent four years in clinical research for Neonatal Surgery, necrotising Enterocolitis and Neurodevelopment at the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital; before joining Kingston Hospital as a Paediatric and Neonatology Consultant.
She was elected the Paediatric High Dependency lead for the department in 2019 and was a member of the South Thames Paediatric Critical Care Network for Education and Regional Guidelines. She has created multiple evidence-based approach guidelines and completed quality improvement projects, focusing on managing critically unwell children and reinforcing learning with presentation teaching sessions and high-fidelity simulations. In addition, she is an instructor for advanced resuscitation for Neonates and Paediatric life support (NLS & EPALS).
