Mr Paul Jairaj is an internationally trained, London-based Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon leading the way with the most advanced proven treatment options in the Hip and Knee.
Paul’s surgical training was on the prestigious Imperial College Scheme obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England qualification in both Surgery in General ( FRCS Eng) and Orthopaedic Surgery (FRCS Orth) . At the end of his training Mr Jairaj undertook Fellowships at Centers of Excellence across the United States as well a French Fellowship at the elite Clinique du Sport in Bordeaux.
He is at the forefront of the latest techniques in hip and knee preservation and Joint replacement surgery. This includes utilising cutting edge equipment to repair the knee meniscus and hip labrum as opposed to resecting it .
He was at the forefront of Anatomic Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction surgery in the UK having been trained at originating centers in France and the US which is now standard practice.
He performs the latest Cartilage repair techniques which are presented at the International Cartilage Repair Society meetings including the utilisation of stem cell techniques. He is one of the only UK surgeons performing the Subchondroplasty procedure, offering patients another option to joint replacement surgery and has the largest experience in London.
Paul is one of UK’s first surgeons to pioneer the use of 3D planned patient specific custom prostheses for Hip and Knee Replacements and has the largest combined experience in the UK of these two procedures.
He is one of the only surgeons globally performing all of his hip arthroscopic and femoroacetabular surgery through mini-capsular incisions which avoids cutting the capsule and one of the largest ligaments in the body (and very rarely repaired by others ). This surgery is for labral tearing articular cartilage damage and shaving away the extra bone of the CAM/Pincer.
These innovative techniques lead to faster recovery, improved function and better outcomes in his patients, and are always in conjunction with a multidisciplinary professional approach, one of Mr Jairaj’s core beliefs and practices.
He has worked in private practice in Central London for over fifteen years, and is Faculty for Surgeon training in the many techniques mentioned above .
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England , an International Affiliate member of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the International Cartilage Repair Society, a member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy , a member of the British Association of Surgeons of the Knee and the British Medical Association.
