Dr Leiper is a Family Medicine Consultant. She qualified at Manchester University Medical School in 1991 and undertook further specialist training in General (Internal) Medicine, General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Medicine for the Elderly, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and community Family Medicine. She is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a Diplomate of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and of the Faculty of Family Planning.
Dr Leiper has worked in a variety of Family Medicine practices in the UK and Northern Ireland gaining experience in treating and managing a wide range of diseases in infants and children all the way through to the elderly. She is qualified to give contraceptive advice and to use the subdermal implant, to provide antenatal care and treat all aspects of women’s health.
Her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Medicine (University of Surrey, 2010) enables her to advise on diet and nutrition, particularly weight management. She is also qualified in advising on and providing counselling for emotional eating. She has worked extensively with those struggling with eating disorders.
Dr Leiper has worked as consultant advisor for the Defence Nutrition Advisory Service and the Defence Occupational Fitness Programme at the Institute of Naval Medicine UK. She is a qualified Military Aviation Medical Examiner and has extensive Occupational Medicine experience.
