Post-childbirth Rehabilitation Clinic at King’s
Childbirth can be a beautiful and rewarding experience, but it can also take a toll on a woman’s body. Many women struggle with physical discomfort and issues after giving birth, such as vaginal laxity, incontinence, and discomfort during intercourse. The medical experts at King’s College Hospital London in Dubai understand how difficult this change to a woman’s body can be, which is why the King’s Post-Childbirth Rehabilitation clinic has been launched.
Dr Maria Karakoulaki, Lead Aesthetic and Functional Gynaecologist and Menopause Expert, explains that one of the most affected areas during pregnancy and after childbirth is the pelvic floor area and the entire intimate area. Fortunately, there are several post-childbirth rehabilitation treatments that can help women recover and restore their bodies to optimal health.

“One popular option is Femilift laser treatment. This non-invasive procedure uses a laser to stimulate collagen production and tighten the vaginal tissue.” says Dr Maria, further explaining that this can improve urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, and painful intercourse.
The second treatment Dr Maria describes to us is the BTL Emsella chair which uses electromagnetic technology to stimulate pelvic floor muscles. “The chair is designed to help women with incontinence and other pelvic floor issues, such as weak pelvic muscles, and many women report noticeable improvements after just a few sessions.”
The last treatment Dr Maria explains is the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) O-shot treatments, which “uses the patient’s own blood to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration. The PRP is extracted and then injected into the vaginal area to promote healing and tissue growth. This can help with issues like vaginal dryness, incontinence, and painful intercourse.” She goes onto explain that while PRP treatments are more invasive than Femilift and Emsella, it is still minimally invasive and has few side effects.
“Post-childbirth rehabilitation treatments like the Femilift laser, BTL Emsella chair, and PRP can be effective options for women looking to restore their bodies after giving birth. They can help alleviate physical discomfort and improve overall quality of life, allowing women to enjoy motherhood to the fullest.” Dr Maria concludes.
