Haematuria Treatment in Dubai
Blood in Urine Haematuria

Blood in urine (haematuria) does not always signify serious disease, but it can be an important warning sign of problems in the kidneys or urinary tract. Haematuria may present as pink, red or brown coloured urine, which is called ‘gross haematuria ‘or blood may be found in urine during a routine urine exam but the urine is not visibly pink- this is called microscopic haematuria.

There are many causes of haematuria, most of them benign, however, bloody urine should never be ignored.

Causes of haematuria include

  • Urinary infection (UTI)
  • Kidney infection (pyelonephritis)
  • Prostate disease, such as enlarged prostate or prostate infection
  • Kidney stones
  • Cancer of the kidney, bladder or urinary tract
  • Prostate cancer
  • Certain medications, such as blood thinners, pain medications
  • Foods such as beets, blackberries, rhubarbs

Our expert urologist, Dr. Rizwan Hamid believes that all haematuria, whether gross or microscopic, should be investigated.
