Ovarian cysts are small fluid collections formed either in or on the surface of the ovaries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ovarian Cyst Symptoms \/ Why Would You Need a <\/strong><strong>Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may not present with any ovarian cyst symptoms. Usually, ovarian cysts are painless conditions that don\u2019t require any specific ovarian cyst treatment or intervention. However, some cysts might require to be removed due to the following scenarios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Large cysts or presence of cysts that are growing<\/li>\n<li>Specific types of cysts, like cystadenomas, endometriomas or dermoid cysts<\/li>\n<li>A cyst causing severe abdominal pain or bleeding \u2013 twisted ovarian cyst<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What Does a <\/strong><strong>Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy Surgery I<\/strong><strong>nvolve?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before the Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before your ovarian cyst removal surgery, your doctor will explain to you the reasons and the steps of your procedure. It\u2019s important to mention here if you have any other condition or take any medication. Also, you are not allowed to drink or eat anything at least 8 hours before the procedure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>During the Procedure <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a general anesthetic, your doctor will make 3-5 small incisions in your abdomen skin and introduce the laparoscopy instruments and a tiny camera. Then, your doctor will locate your affected ovary and the cysts on it. They will carefully cut off the cysts and put it into a pouch that is pulled out through one of the small incisions. Finally, your ovary and skin incisions will be closed back again. The entire procedure usually takes about 1-2 hours and you will be closely monitored all the time. Using a laparoscopic technique for these cases, instead of open surgery, has notable benefits, including a less invasive procedure, shorter recovery time and less pain and blood loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After the Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Typically you will stay in the hospital for at least one night.
