Invasive Breast Cancer Treatment at King’s
According to statistics, 1 in 8 women worldwide will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. Invasive breast cancer is the most common type of breast cancer and materializes when the cancer cells start growing in the breast ducts, then spread to the surrounding tissue.
Types of Invasive Breast Cancer
There are different forms of invasive breast cancer, with two types accounting for about 90% of all invasive breast cancer cases. These are:
This makes up about 80% of all invasive cancer cases. This type of cancer affects the milk ducts, and spreads to other areas of the breast tissue.
This is the second most common type of breast cancer and accounts for 10% of all invasive breast cancer cases. It starts in the milk-producing ducts then spreads to other tissue of the breast, and sometimes to other parts of the body.
