Prof. Dr. Thomas Nau is an Austrian-trained Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai, having gained more than 30 years’ experience in the fields of sports medicine, trauma surgery, arthroscopic surgery and joint preservation. His area of practice is to assist patients in recovering from sports injuries, in preserving joint function and in enabling them to return safely to normal daily activity and to competitive sport.
Prof. Dr. Nau obtained his medical degree from the University of Graz in Austria in 1994 and subsequently did specialist training in orthopedic trauma surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He was given Austrian specialist certification in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery in 2003 and gained extensive experience in the management of traumatic, degenerative, and sports-related orthopedic conditions.
Over the course of his career, Prof. Dr. Nau has worked internationally across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with a particular focus on sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, and minimally invasive joint preservation. He has extensive experience treating athletes and active patients, with an emphasis on restoring movement, protecting joint health, and supporting a safe return to sport.
Together with his clinical work, Prof. Dr. Nau has maintained a robust academic and research career. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology in Vienna and has also had academic positions at universities in the UAE. His research has appeared in leading peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and he regularly acts as a reviewer for academic medical publications.
His clinical and academic work is centered on advancing minimally invasive orthopedic techniques, sports injury management, and joint preservation strategies that aim to improve recovery and long-term function.
