Dr Siddiq Anwar is a British and US-trained Consultant Nephrologist at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai, with close to 2 decades of experience in nephrology, including renal transplantation and advanced kidney care. He specializes in complex kidney conditions, dialysis services, and transplant medicine.
Dr Anwar completed his specialist renal training through the South Thames Renal Rotation in the United Kingdom, including transplant training at St George’s Hospital and Guy’s Hospital in London. He later undertook advanced fellowships in Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, USA.
Over the years, Dr Anwar has held academic and leadership roles within major tertiary healthcare institutions and international professional societies. He has played an important role in developing and expanding nephrology and transplant services across the region, including helping establish the UAE’s Paired Kidney Donation Program. Through his leadership roles in International Society of Nephrology, he supports capacity building projects around Transplantation, Point-of-Care Ultrasound and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies to improve access to high-quality renal care in the wider region, especially the global south. He also serves as associate editor of Saudi Journal of Kidney Disease and Transplantation.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Anwar leads an active research program focused on clinical AI, decision support, and global capacity building in kidney care. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), the International Society of Nephrology, and the American Society of Nephrology. He holds adjunct clinical professorships at Khalifa University, UAE University, and Gulf Medical University, and is a Visiting Research Fellow at ADIA Lab, where his work focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to improve patient outcomes.
His professional interests sit at the intersection of clinical nephrology, health technology, and global capacity building, with a focus on making kidney care more proactive, precise, and accessible.
