Dr. Suhair Twaij is a UK-trained Consultant Ophthalmologist at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai. She has extensive experience in adult and pediatric ophthalmology. She specializes in adult and pediatric strabismus surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and general ophthalmology, with particular expertise in complex squint surgery and managing double vision.
Dr. Twaij graduated in Medicine from Baghdad University Medical School in 1994 before continuing her ophthalmology training in the United Kingdom. She completed specialist training across England and Northern Ireland and was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Ophthalmology in 2012. In the same year, she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Twaij has worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the UK since 2013 and has held senior clinical leadership responsibilities, including serving as Clinical Lead for the Adult Motility Service in Northern Ireland. Her clinical experience includes complex adult and pediatric strabismus surgery, adjustable suture techniques, double vision correction, cataract surgery with lens implantation, and Botox treatment for strabismus and blepharospasm.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Twaij has a strong research interest and has published papers across several areas of ophthalmology, including medical retina, pediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplastics. She is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the British & Irish Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Association (BIPOSA), and the European Strabismological Association.
