Dr Renfrew is a UK trained Interventional radiologist and has worked as the lead interventional consultant radiologist for 20 years at the Royal London Hospital, Barts health NHS trust – the largest IR unit in the UK. He is the clinical director of Radiology at the London Clinic and The London Independent hospitals. He has provided a wide repertoire of Interventional radiology and general radiology in both the Public and private sector.
He has expertise across a wide range of Interventional radiology – including interventional oncology, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, vascular, renal and dialysis, trauma, obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatric IR. He has been an invited speaker on topics as widely varied as IR for paediatric trauma, pulmonary embolectomies, aortic stent grafts for traumatic and non-traumatic rupture, IR in abnormal placental invasion and management of GI bleeding to name a few.
Dr. Renfrew received his medical degree from University College Medical School, University of London in 1994, achieving prizes in all subjects at Finals – Medicine, Surgery, Clinical Pharmacology, Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with Honours in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Joint Hetley and Aitchison Prize for the best overall performance in clinical finals in the University. He then studied internal medicine gaining his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London, prior to undertaking his general professional training in radiology, with speciality training in IR at the Middlesex Hospital and University College London Hospitals. He then undertook fellowships in adult IR at Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals and in Paediatric IR at Great Ormond Street hospital, prior to being appointed a consultant at the Royal London Hospital in late 2003.
