Dr Tharaq Barami is a UK Board-certified Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician with expertise in managing various aspects of Rheumatological and Musculoskeletal conditions. He comes to King’s with over 25 years of experience in General Medicine and over 14 years in Rheumatology.
Before coming to the UAE, Dr Barami held various consultant positions at the University Hospitals of Leicester and Kettering General Hospital, UK. He attained his MSc in Rheumatology from the University of Manchester and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a member of the British Society of Rheumatology. After graduating from Manipal Academy in India, Dr Barami pursued his higher training in the UK under National Health Service (NHS), where he underwent his dual training in General Medical and Rheumatology from prestigious hospitals, including Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and Royal Derby Hospitals.
His particular interest includes Autoimmune Vasculitis and connective tissue diseases, including SLE, Systemic Sclerosis, Sjogren’s Syndrome, inflammatory Myositis and Behcet’s disease. Dr Barami is a keen educator for both postgraduate and undergraduate students. He is a founding member of the Leicester Academy for Rheumatology Nurses (LeARN). In addition, he has held the position of General Medical module lead for Leicester Medical School students at Kettering General Hospital.
